Prayers Before the Blessed Sacrament

Traditional prayers for Eucharistic adoration

Act of Faith O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three Divine Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that Your Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.

Act of Adoration Jesus, my God, I adore You, here present in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar, where You wait day and night to be our comfort while we await Your unveiled presence in heaven. Jesus, my God, who for love of us instituted this Blessed Sacrament and offers Yourself for the salvation of the world, I adore You. Jesus, for You I live. Jesus, for You I die. Jesus, I am Yours in life and death. Amen.

Prayer of Saint Thomas Aquinas Almighty and everlasting God, behold, I approach the Sacrament of Your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I come sick to the physician of life, unclean to the fountain of mercy, blind to the light of eternal brightness, poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Therefore I ask, in the abundance of Your great bounty, that You may deign to heal my sickness, wash away my defilement, give light to my blindness, enrich my poverty and clothe my nakedness, that I may receive the Bread of Angels, the King of kings and Lord of lords, with such reverence and humility, such contrition and devotion, such purity and faith, and such purpose and intention as are conducive to the salvation of my soul. Grant, I pray, that I may receive not only the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of the Lord, but also its reality and power. O most gentle God, grant that I may so receive the Body of Your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, which He took from the Virgin Mary, that I may be made worthy to be incorporated into His Mystical Body and counted among His members. O most loving Father, grant that I may at last gaze forever upon the unveiled face of Your beloved Son, whom I now purpose to receive under the sacramental veil; who lives and reigns with You for ever and ever. Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Stay with Me, Lord Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You. Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need Your strength, that I may not fall so often. Stay with me, Lord, for You are my life, and without You I am without fervor. Stay with me, Lord, for You are my light, and without You I am in darkness. Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your will. Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear Your voice and follow You. Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love You very much and always be in Your company. Amen.
