Psalms of Praise and Thanksgiving
Psalm 100
Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing for joy.
Know that he, the Lord, is God. He made us, we belong to him. We are his people, the sheep of his flock.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.
Because the Lord is good, his kindness is everlasting, and his faithfulness lasts from age to age.
Psalm 103
Bless the Lord, my soul! Lord my God, you are great indeed! You are clothed with majesty and splendour, wrapped in light as in a robe.
He makes the clouds his chariot; he walks on the wings of the wind. He makes his angels spirits, his ministers flames of fire.
He founded the earth on its base, to stand firm from age to age. He wrapped the sea in its robes; the waters stood firm, unmoving, over the mountains.
At your rebuke they fled; at the voice of your thunder they hurried away. They rose over the mountains and fell down in the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.
You fixed the earth on its foundations; it shall never be moved. You covered it with the deep as with a mantle; the waters stood higher than the mountains.
At your rebuke they fled; at the voice of your thunder they hurried away.
You made springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills. They give drink to every wild animal; the wild asses quench their thirst.
Beside them the birds of the air make their nests; they sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from his palace; the earth is filled with the fruit of your work.
How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
There is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with living things beyond number— living things both large and small.
All of these look to you to give them their food at the proper time.
When you give it to them, they gather it; when you open your hand, they are well filled.
When you hide your face, they are troubled; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust.
When you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the Lord last forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works—
who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke.
I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live.
May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.
Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the Lord, my soul! Praise the Lord!
